Massive Thrower
The K70 is a massive thrower. Its XHP35 Cree LED and deep, smooth reflector, combine to put its light out a huge distance. A genuine 450-500 Meters, and still being able to see your target, is nothing to be sneezed at ! The tint is neutral, tending to slightly cool, but definitely no blue overtones of the 6500 + Kct range. Whilst it may well throw 1/4 of one Lumen, 1.3 Kilometers ( ANSI/FL1 Standard ), in the real world, good light at 400-500 Meters is probably as much as most any of us would ever need. This is definitely going to cover SAR and hunting. As with all High Performance lights, the correct, High drain 18650 cells are a MUST, not just an option. They ensure the correct operation of the light, as well as user safety. Like all large format, hand held torches, the K70 has a big body ( near identical to the K60 ). Some, with smaller hands, may find it a bit tiresome after a while. Maybe Acebeam could develop a shoulder strap for the K60-K70 series, but i'm sure an enterprising owner would be able to fashion one up, themselves. The K70 ( along with its flood/throw brother, the K60 ) is definitely a leader in its field. In the two beamshot photos ( identical location ), the power pole is 100 Meters from the camera. The darker trees overhanging the road from both sides are at 250 Meters from the camera. The red dot on the road ( reflector ) is at 900 Meters distance. Note carefully, how the K70 beam continues another 150-200 Meters under the tree canopy. The camera lens tends to foreshorten the view a bit, even though it's as close as I can get it, to what my eyes are seeing. Ohh for a nice camera....
